The Bilingual Teacher Scholars program is committed to the diversification of the educator workforce through an innovative and collaborative “grow your own” program in partnership with major school districts and community colleges across Oregon. The multiyear scholarship (up to $25,000) was created to support underrepresented and diverse Oregon high school graduates pursuing higher education in-state. Awards may be used to attend a range of Oregon institutions, including apprenticeships, trade schools, community colleges, colleges or universities. We’ve deliberately left the criteria fairly general (incoming Freshman, Oregon resident, and going to an Oregon school) to encourage students from a wide variety of backgrounds to apply. The Educator Advancement Council and the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) are pleased to offer two opportunities for diverse educators to receive financial assistance with expenses. The Pathways in Education Program provides successful candidates with tuition scholarships ranging between $2,500 and $15,000 to attend Bushnell University, University of Oregon, Pacific University, or Lane Community College. The Pathways in Education program is designed to address this persistent issue by producing and supporting effective teachers who mirror the diversity of students in our classrooms.
